About the position

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our dynamic team in Norfolk, Virginia, within the non-profit sector. This short-term contract role is essential for maintaining and managing our databases, collaborating closely with our economic mobility team to ensure optimal performance and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain databases, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
• Collaborate with the economic mobility team to understand and fulfil data requirements.
• Ensure regular database maintenance tasks are performed, including backups, indexing, and integrity checks.
• Utilize ERP systems to manage and organize data effectively.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information.
• Optimize database systems to improve efficiency and performance.
• Develop and implement data standards and procedures.
• Assist in the analysis and resolution of issues with applications and data.
• Train staff on the use and management of databases.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Database Administrator role or similar.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in database management and data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using various database software such as SQL, Oracle, and MS Access.
• Knowledge of database design principles and data modeling.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
