The Database Administrator at Vaco plays a critical role in ensuring the availability and performance of core systems, specifically Oracle and SQL databases, in a 24x7x365 operational environment. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of database systems that support day-to-day operations. The Database Administrator will provide technical guidance on query optimization and best practices to engineering teams and other departments, ensuring that the databases are optimized for performance and reliability. In addition to query optimization, the Database Administrator will focus on improving operational efficiencies related to database schema, settings, SQL queries, backup and recovery processes, change data capture, and disaster recovery procedures. The role involves monitoring core production system services for proper disk and CPU utilization, researching new products and upgrades, and documenting and improving existing departmental procedures, policies, and workflows. The Database Administrator will also manage storage effectively and closely monitor security-related aspects of the Oracle and SQL databases, ensuring compliance with security protocols and audit requirements. The position requires maintaining development, test, and UAT database systems, providing data maintenance services, and refreshing databases as necessary. The Database Administrator will document database design, integration processes, and disaster recovery processes, and will be responsible for performance tuning and optimization as required. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the database systems are robust, secure, and capable of supporting the organization's operational needs.
