About the position

The School of Professional Studies at New York University is seeking a Database Administrator to play a crucial role in the design, development, analysis, implementation, testing, and support of various databases. This position involves leading, assisting, and collaborating with technical staff on the introduction of new systems software or database applications. The Database Administrator will serve as a technical liaison to the community and vendors, ensuring effective communication and support for database-related initiatives. A key responsibility will be to analyze and troubleshoot complex data problems, creating and producing databases and reports as needed. The role also includes leading or participating in database upgrades and related business applications, ensuring that all systems are up-to-date and functioning optimally. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Database Administrator will assess the accuracy and assure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical and sensitive data within databases and systems. This includes reviewing, evaluating, and recommending changes to policies, procedures, and practices regarding databases and applications to improve system efficiency, database performance, reliability, usability, and security. The position requires maintaining current knowledge of information technology advancements to ensure that the institution remains at the forefront of database management and technology.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination, including DBA-level experience with Oracle (19c or higher).
  • Experience in database design, programming, system analysis, and database maintenance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team/project-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills and accommodate evolving technologies.
  • Significant knowledge of Oracle, database systems, database design, and analysis.
