About the position

The Database Administrator at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County is responsible for managing and maintaining internal systems and data processes for the Public Guardianship and Guardian Advocacy Projects. This role involves overseeing multiple databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information, and resolving technical issues. The position requires strong attention to detail, effective time management, and technical problem-solving skills to support the organization's mission of providing legal aid to underserved residents.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the mission, values, and vision of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County.
  • Attends staff and community meetings as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information handled.
  • Stays current on emerging professional computer database information.
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Works with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
  • Meets all performance requirements, including attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Maintains courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with employees and clients.
  • Supports programmatic processes of gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting outcome data.
  • Inputs client data from source documents within time limits.
  • Compiles, verifies accuracy, and sorts information to prepare for computer entry.
  • Scans documents and prints files as needed.
  • Reviews data for deficiencies or errors and corrects incompatibilities.
  • Facilitates communication and proactive problem solving between support staff and program directors.
  • Models and encourages a solution-focused mindset.
  • Proactively identifies issues with internal systems and processes and notifies supervisors.
  • Creates and maintains process mapping of data systems from client engagement to discharge.
  • Assists with managing hardware and software needs for seamless data capture.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and considers the big picture.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic for Applications, Citrix Metaphrame, MS Office, and current Windows Operating Systems.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Typing speed and accuracy.
  • Strong technical skills in performance tuning and database administration.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret database designs and programs.
