About the position

The Database Administrator at Taft is responsible for the management and maintenance of firm databases, ensuring their functionality at all times. This role involves providing support, maintenance, implementation, and integration for all database systems and associated applications, while maintaining positive communication with legal staff and adhering to confidentiality standards. The position operates under a 'Client First' philosophy, aiming to deliver exceptional services to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops databases to meet technical and business needs, optimizing scalability and data management.
  • Integrates databases with firm financial and other systems.
  • Maintains and supports databases for optimal performance, including creating, updating, and troubleshooting SQL-based databases.
  • Performs regular maintenance of databases, including backups and restores, and monitors database performance.
  • Develops and maintains procedures for database security and integrity.
  • Creates and maintains database backup, maintenance, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Documents database configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Resolves software problems and installs updates for databases and applications.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Applications and IT team on database issues and project status.
  • Provides assistance to IT staff in troubleshooting and supporting applications and databases.
  • Monitors trends and best practices to make recommendations for improvements.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and assists others with workload as needed.
  • Provides after-hours support as required.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of SQL Server administration and MS SQL database support.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Technical knowledge of Boomi and Intapp Integration Service (IIS).
  • Ability to translate technical and business requirements into database solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under deadlines.
  • Proactive and takes initiative in work tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree or 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of SQL database design and development experience.
  • 2-3 years of HTML and Microsoft .NET programming experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Law firm experience preferred.
