About the position

As a Database Administrator at MetroStar Systems, you will play a crucial role in supporting a high-visibility, mission-critical customer. This position requires you to engage daily with a VIP Federal customer, ensuring effective communication and support. You will be part of a highly qualified technical team, where your contributions will directly impact the success of our operations. Your responsibilities will include developing new applications and maintaining legacy applications, ensuring that our database systems are robust and efficient. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in database administration to monitor daily database activity and health using SQL tools. You will be responsible for creating complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, cursors, and user-defined functions to implement business logic effectively. Additionally, you will provide primary support for various business-critical SQL Server applications, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. Your knowledge of migrating, backing up, and restoring databases will be essential, as you will work with both existing and new environments. Familiarity with other relational database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL will also be beneficial. You will oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases in Kubernetes and Linux environments, leveraging your experience with containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker, as well as cloud services such as Azure and AWS. CI & CD development experience with tools like Gitlab, Bash, or Jenkins will further enhance your contributions to our team. Your proficiency in SQL and experience with PL/pgSQL or similar procedural languages will be critical in supporting and troubleshooting RDBMS platforms across Linux, Kubernetes, and Windows environments. Responsibilities

  • Work with a highly qualified technical team

  • Monitor daily database activity and health using SQL tools
  • Create complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, cursors, and user-defined functions
  • Provide primary support to various business-critical SQL Server applications
  • Migrate, back up, and restore databases in place or to new environments
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases in Kubernetes and Linux environments
  • Utilize containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and cloud services (Azure, AWS)
  • Engage in CI & CD development with technologies like Gitlab, Bash, or Jenkins
  • Support and troubleshoot RDBMS platforms on Linux, Kubernetes, and Windows environments.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI eligible clearance and Security + certification
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or Mathematics
  • 6-8 years of experience in database administration and management
  • Proficient in SQL and experience with PL/pgSQL or similar procedural language
  • Experience creating complex SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Views, Cursors, and User Defined Functions
  • Experience providing primary support to various business-critical SQL Server applications
  • Knowledge of migrating, backing up, and restoring databases
  • Familiarity with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases in Kubernetes and Linux environments
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and cloud services (Azure, AWS)
  • CI & CD development experience with technologies like Gitlab, Bash or Jenkins
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Json.
