About the position

The Database Administrator is responsible for administering, testing, and implementing computer database systems, coordinating changes, identifying and resolving performance issues, and implementing security measures to safeguard the database systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency and security of the database operations within the Arizona Department of Revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, test, and implement computer database systems as assigned.
  • Coordinate changes to the database systems as needed.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve database performance issues.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard the database systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of database administration experience.
  • Experience in public cloud hosted database design, provisioning, and administration (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Strong knowledge of computer database management systems, applications, and programming languages.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life-Cycle and IT release and configuration management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in T-SQL, PowerShell, NoSQL, PL/SQL.
  • Report building experience, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, ODS, OLAP.
  • Experience in both Hybrid Cloud and Public Cloud architectures.
  • Oracle DB experience (19c-21c).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement or LEAN concepts and principles.
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Azure Database Administrator Associate, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Database Engineer.
