About the position

Join our robust in-house IT team as a Database Administrator to design, develop and maintain Database solutions for North America's top distributor of shipping, industrial and packaging materials! This position is on-site in Pleasant Prairie, WI or Waukegan, IL based on need, and we are looking for people who share our passion. You may be placed within SQL Server or Oracle. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for designing complex databases, tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, and other database objects, as well as Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solutions. You will work closely with application development project teams to ensure optimal application performance. Proactively monitoring database performance will be a key part of your role, optimizing through techniques including indexing, query optimization, and database design. Additionally, you will provide day-to-day support for databases and database applications, ensuring they are backed up properly, and that recovery procedures are tested and documented.

Responsibilities

• Design complex databases, tables, stored procedures, views, triggers, and other database objects.
• Develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solutions.
• Work closely with application development project teams to ensure optimal application performance.
• Proactively monitor database performance and optimize through techniques including indexing and query optimization.
• Provide day-to-day support for databases and database applications, ensuring proper backups and documented recovery procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
• 5+ years in Database Management or Data Integration.
• Proficient in a Database Management System such as DataStax, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Familiar with replication technologies and ability to read a Logical Data Model.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
