About the position

The Database Administrator at Ampcus Inc. is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining databases to ensure their security, availability, and performance. This role involves working closely with Systems and Data Architects to implement database structures, manage backups, and troubleshoot issues, while also providing project management support for system upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Implements designs and structures provided by Systems and Data Architects, performing timely installation of software and hardware environments.
  • Prepares appropriate dimensional data structures and provides logical interfaces for the extract/transform/load process.
  • Maintains database availability to users and manages database backup and recovery processes.
  • Monitors database performance and assists with database security measures.
  • Develops and implements techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshooting incidents to recover services and support root cause analysis.
  • Validates, loads, tests, and verifies data, performing complete functional testing of database structures across all environments.
  • Provides project management support for implementing project release upgrades, including developing project plans and completing necessary documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT related field.
  • 3 years of experience using relational databases and retrieving data for management and reporting duties.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Oracle and similar databases.
  • Proficient in structured query language (SQL).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with analysts, developers, testers, and project managers in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High-level analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
