About the position

The Database Administrator at RogueThink Inc. is responsible for managing and optimizing databases for government clients, ensuring their stability, performance, and security. This role requires expertise in various Database Management Systems (DBMS) and cloud platforms, particularly AWS RDS, and involves tasks such as database design, automation, data migration, and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, design, and maintain databases across multiple platforms, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Collaborate with developers and data architects to ensure seamless integration and data flow.
  • Design and model databases using E-R diagrams and data normalization techniques.
  • Optimize SQL queries through tuning and indexing to improve database performance.
  • Implement and manage database security measures, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
  • Perform routine backups, recovery tasks, and monitoring to maintain database reliability.
  • Execute data migration, ETL processes, and integration to support data warehousing initiatives.
  • Automate database maintenance tasks through scripting to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in Database Administration.
  • Proficiency in multiple DBMS platforms, preferably Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with cloud-based databases, especially AWS RDS.
  • Knowledge of database design, modeling, and optimization.
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience in query tuning and indexing.
  • Familiarity with database security best practices, including access control and encryption.
  • Experience with backup/recovery processes and performance monitoring.
  • Skills in data migration, ETL, and data warehousing.
  • Active Secret clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with database automation and scripting.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
