About the position

The Database Administrator role involves installing, upgrading, patching, tuning, and supporting Oracle databases for evolving applications. The position requires extensive performance evaluation experience and a minimum of 10 years of experience managing and supporting Oracle databases. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team, and must be willing to obtain National Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the smooth operation and physical design of databases.
  • Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery, and recommend enhancements or improvements.
  • Maintain security and integrity controls.
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards for database management.
  • Monitor transaction activity and utilization.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Oracle 19c, 18c, 12c, and 11g architecture and database infrastructure design.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Multitenancy, including managing and maintaining Container and Pluggable databases.
  • Expertise in automating, scripting, and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy (Unix shell scripting or similar tools).
  • Ability to develop standardized database installation and configuration processes and procedures.
  • Strong experience in performance tuning using OEM or third-party tools, advanced stats gathering, understanding of Oracle 19c/18c optimizer behavior, and knowledge of Oracle 19c new features.
  • Proficiency in scheduling and using ASH/AWR/ADDM reports and taking corrective actions.
  • Strong experience with Disaster Recovery environments using Data Guard.
  • Experience with Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Oracle backup methodologies and their implementation via GUI and scripts, including RMAN backups and database restores.
  • Experience developing architectural and functional process diagrams for Oracle database services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oracle OCP or OCM Certification.
  • Experience with disk array storage solutions, preferably NetApp.
  • Experience with backup/recovery solutions, preferably CommVault.
