About the position

S&P Global Market Intelligence Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to manage key database releases throughout the software development life cycle, ensuring quality assurance, pre-production, production, and disaster recovery. The role involves maintaining databases, applying patches and upgrades, automating routine tasks, and collaborating with IT Server Management to resolve incidents and improve delivery efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage key database releases for quality assurance, pre-production, production, and disaster recovery.
• Maintain databases including patch applications and enhancements/upgrades.
• Install upgrades and patches to existing database servers.
• Automate routine maintenance tasks using scripting technologies.
• Solve non-routine problems and determine the best solution through cost/benefit analysis.
• Apply methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
• Work with IT Server Management and other groups to ensure all events, incidents, and problems are resolved as per the service level agreement.
• Improve efficiency and quality of delivery by automating routine tasks.
• Contribute to best-of-breed product support tools including run books, monitoring, and knowledge bases.
• Suggest improvements to current processes and tools and suggest implementation ideas.
• Contribute to process and troubleshooting documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or related IT field.
• Five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Database Administrator or related occupation.
• Experience with MS SQL Server database platform.
• Database support, administration, performance tuning, and database monitoring experience.
• Experience with Transactional Replication and Log Shipping.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, and T-SQL.
• Experience with Database Mirroring, AlwaysOn, and Windows Clustering.
• Troubleshooting problems involving Client Libraries (ADO.NET), Operating Systems, Network and Storage.
