As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for applying principles and practices of database administration, which includes the installation, upgrades, and maintenance of database management systems. Your role will involve utilizing methods and techniques of database design to develop, modify, and maintain database models based on logical models, designs, and requirements. You will need to understand the operational characteristics of information systems environments to effectively participate in systems analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance. In addition, you will employ methods and techniques of applications development to program and maintain business logic for application integration, data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL). Implementing principles and practices of software installation will be crucial, ensuring that all necessary patches and updates are applied. You will also manage system installation and administration, establishing procedures for database security, backup policies, and disaster recovery solutions. Utilizing SQL database language and ETL development software, you will monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure database accessibility and scalability. Effective communication is key, as you will need to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, while establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
