About the position

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. You will be involved in the planning and development of database systems, as well as troubleshooting and optimizing existing databases to ensure high availability and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and manage databases based on business requirements and data modeling.
  • Monitor database performance and implement optimizations for efficiency and speed.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Manage database access permissions and security settings to protect sensitive data.
  • Diagnose and resolve database issues and errors in a timely manner.
  • Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Work closely with developers and system administrators to support database-related development and deployment tasks.
  • Apply updates and patches to database systems as needed to ensure security and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and knowledge of database languages (SQL, PL/SQL).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud database services integrations.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes (e.g., Snowflake, Matillion).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Understanding of data governance and compliance regulations.
