About the position

The Database Administrator/Tier 3 Support Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical support for the state of Alabama and West Virginia AOC. This role involves diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance of systems and applications, and acting as a support developer to execute database fixes and address technical problems. The position requires collaboration with various IT departments and represents the final level of support before escalation to the development team.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues escalated from the state of AL and WV.
  • Write and execute SQL queries to resolve customer data-related issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of support interactions and issue resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
  • Monitor systems and applications to proactively identify potential issues.
  • Provide training and mentorship to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support staff.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding issue status and resolution timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 support role, preferably in a technical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems and networking concepts.
  • Skilled in SQL database management with the ability to write and execute queries effectively.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals).
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud-based services and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
