About the position

The Database and Technology Administrator at the Episcopal School of Nashville is a full-time position responsible for managing and maintaining the school's technology infrastructure, which includes hardware, software, and networking systems. This role requires a strong background in database administration, particularly within an educational or nonprofit setting. The administrator will coordinate with IT personnel and external vendors to ensure system upgrades, maintenance, and support are effectively executed. A key aspect of this position is to identify opportunities for technology integration and innovation that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness within the school. In addition to technology administration, the Database and Technology Administrator will provide training and support to faculty, staff, and other users of the Student Information System (SIS) and other technology systems. This includes developing and maintaining user guides, documentation, and training materials. The administrator will serve as the primary point of contact for technical support and assistance related to technology systems, ensuring that all users are well-equipped to utilize the available technology effectively. The role also involves providing administrative support for fundraising and development activities, including managing the donor database, processing gifts, and ensuring donor stewardship. The administrator will assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, events, and appeals, while generating reports and analyses on fundraising performance and donor engagement. Maintaining accurate and complete donor records in the database is crucial, as is assisting in donor communications and stewardship activities. The Database and Technology Administrator will generate and analyze data reports from the SIS and other technology systems to support decision-making and strategic planning, providing regular updates to school leadership on technology utilization and performance. Collaboration with the Director of Business and Operations is essential to develop and implement technology strategies that align with the school's mission and goals. The administrator will stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in database management and educational technology, participating in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the school's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Coordinate with IT personnel and external vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, and support.
  • Identify opportunities for technology integration and innovation to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and other users of the SIS and other technology systems.
  • Develop and maintain user guides, documentation, and training materials for technology systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical support and assistance related to technology systems.
  • Provide administrative support for fundraising and development activities, including donor database management, gift processing, and donor stewardship.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events, and appeals.
  • Generate reports and analysis on fundraising performance, donor engagement, and other key metrics.
  • Maintain donor records in the database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of donor information.
  • Assist in donor communications and stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, donor recognition, and engagement initiatives.
  • Generate and analyze data reports from the SIS and other technology systems to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to school leadership on technology utilization, performance, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Business and Operations to develop and implement technology strategies and initiatives that support the school's mission and goals.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in database management, technology infrastructure, and educational technology.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in relevant areas.
  • Share expertise and provide guidance to colleagues on technology-related matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, information technology, or related experience.
  • Experience in database administration, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency in database management systems and software, with experience in Blackbaud or similar student information systems (SIS).
  • Strong understanding of technology infrastructure and systems management.
  • Experience in fundraising or development operations preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively train and support users.

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
