About the position

The database administrator will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security measures of company databases. This role is crucial in ensuring that all hardware and software for database maintenance are updated and that data is stored and retrieved efficiently. The administrator will work closely with the IT department, software developers, quality control engineers, and automation engineers to maintain data integrity and security.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the maintenance and security measures of company databases.
  • Monitoring and updating malware protection software, in conjunction with the IT systems administrator, to combat potential security breaches.
  • Ensure all hardware and software for database maintenance are updated.
  • Creating account data for authorized individuals to access databases.
  • Organizing and optimizing databases.
  • Writing various scripts to audit and authenticate the data in the database.
  • Suggest corrections when needed to preserve data integrity.
  • Working together with the IT department, software developers, quality control engineers, and automation engineers to ensure data is stored and retrieved in an efficient manner.
  • Extracting and/or loading data as needed.
  • Ethically handling private data, including customer and financial data.

Requirements

  • Has a college degree in Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Has 3+ years of experience in roles such as DBA, IT Support Specialist, or Data Analyst.
  • Is knowledgeable of SQL and performing database queries.
  • Possesses experience with MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and other databases.
  • Has excellent knowledge of database design and theories.
  • Is familiar with writing scripts and programming languages such as Python.
  • Can work with data architects and other IT specialists to set up, maintain, and monitor data networks.
  • Is familiar with database management best practices.
  • Has experience navigating Linux environments.
  • Is knowledgeable of IT security best practices.
  • Can display excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Has excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Is a self-driven and motivated problem solver with excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Can explain complex ideas in simple terms.
  • Is able to respect privacy and confidentiality when working with sensitive data and can prioritize the workload.
