About the position

The Database Administrator at Steampunk will play a crucial role in architecting and developing data models, data warehouses, and governance services to support clients' mission and business goals. This position requires a seasoned technologist with strong communication and customer service skills, who is passionate about data and problem-solving. The role involves leading data environment migrations, implementing security measures, and ensuring compliance while supporting an Agile software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop data models, data warehouses, lakes, and lakehouses.
• Lead and architect migration of data environments with performance and reliability.
• Implement security measures for the data and control access to the database.
• Build different environments for development, testing, and production.
• Merge and migrate data when necessary.
• Update and patch systems to maintain compliance.
• Design and implement data backups and restore lost data.
• Continually monitor database systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a scientific or technical discipline.
• 7+ years of total experience in database administration, information technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in database administration or database architecture.
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale data migration and designing storage solutions for structured and unstructured data.
• Strong command of SQL tools and advanced knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery standards.
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud technology, preferably AWS or Azure.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in a DevSecOps environment utilizing CI/CD best practices.
• Demonstrated experience developing specifications for cloud-based database solutions.
• Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff at all levels.
