About The Position

As a Database Administrator at Zenith Services, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our database systems, primarily focusing on Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including routine maintenance, performance tuning, and ensuring data recoverability. You will be tasked with detecting and resolving issues related to database block corruption, performance, and availability, ensuring that our databases operate at peak efficiency. In your role, you will execute database performance tuning to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of our systems. You will design, implement, document, and execute robust backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and other tools, ensuring data consistency and recoverability in line with corporate standards and Oracle best practices. Monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting backup jobs and database log files will be essential to your daily activities, as will ensuring database security through the implementation and maintenance of role-based access control and encryption. Additionally, you will be responsible for the maintenance and administration of MS SQL Server, preferably versions 2014 and above. This includes performance tuning, patching, and developing backup strategies. You will upgrade SQL Server software to newer versions and apply necessary service packs, hotfixes, and patches. Your collaboration with system administrators and developers will be crucial to ensure seamless integration of database systems with other applications. You will also work closely with application teams to monitor and troubleshoot issues using SQL Profiler, event logs, IIS logs, and network monitoring tools. Automation will be a key focus of your role, as you will develop and maintain database management scripts to automate routine administrative tasks. Documenting database configuration, resource allocation, and backup/recovery procedures will be part of your responsibilities, along with maintaining up-to-date records on database performance, availability, and issue resolution. Proactively monitoring databases to detect issues before they escalate will be a critical aspect of your work.
