About the position

The Database Analyst I-IV position at the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is a technical role that operates under the supervision of the Infrastructure & Development Officer. This position is responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting, and supporting activities across the entire Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for various AHFC applications. The role emphasizes modern design principles and methodologies, ensuring that applications are secure, flexible, and scalable. The analyst will work to promote a collaborative environment and efficient workflows while maintaining a focus on a positive user experience. In this role, the Database Analyst will develop applications and databases that adhere to modern design principles, ensuring they are implemented securely and efficiently. The analyst will also support, optimize, and analyze problems with databases that may be part of either vendor-supplied or in-house application stacks. Additionally, the position involves developing secure data exchange interfaces between applications both inside and outside the AHFC environment, as well as maintaining a high-quality, customer-focused approach when interacting with business partners, clients, and other departments within AHFC. The Database Analyst will perform workflow analysis, process mapping, documentation, and workflow implementation as part of their duties. This position does not have supervisory or management responsibilities, allowing the analyst to focus on technical tasks and collaboration with various stakeholders. Telework options are available, providing flexibility in the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and support activities across the entire Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for AHFC applications.
  • Develop applications that follow modern design principles and secure methodologies, promoting a streamlined and collaborative environment.
  • Develop databases that are secure, flexible, and scalable, and support, optimize, and analyze problems with these databases.
  • Create secure data exchange interfaces between applications inside and outside the AHFC environment.
  • Maintain a consistent, high-quality, customer-focused approach when interacting with AHFC's business partners and clients.
  • Perform workflow analysis, process mapping, documentation, and workflow implementation.
  • Develop a working knowledge of AHFC business practices and processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field for Programmer & Database Analyst I / II positions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field for Programmer & Database Analyst III / IV positions.
  • At least one year of full-time work experience consistent with the KSAs of this job description for Programmer & Database Analyst I position.
  • At least two years of full-time work experience for Programmer & Database Analyst II position.
  • At least four years of full-time work experience for Programmer & Database Analyst III position.
  • At least six years of full-time work experience for Programmer & Database Analyst IV position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with modern application design technologies and trends.
  • Familiarity with AGILE SDLC and UML for system design.
  • Knowledge of ITIL & ITSM principles and best practices.
