About the position

The Database Analyst at NYU Langone Health is responsible for maintaining data storage, assessing database design, and interpreting statistical information from databases. This role involves designing and developing informational dashboards, data reports, and processing applications while collaborating with a cross-functional team to support various projects. The analyst will work with large and sometimes disparate data sources to provide insights that drive business performance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain database development and modification efforts in collaboration with Systems Engineer.
  • Design and implement secure, efficient, and accurate databases.
  • Keep current knowledge of data storage and management best practices.
  • Ensure databases meet specifications and security requirements.
  • Complete database projects in a timely manner.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving production and application development problems related to database management systems.
  • Gather, organize, and interpret statistical data to provide reports.
  • Work closely with project managers to understand analytical needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create and maintain interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis.
  • Define and implement data acquisition and integration logic for optimal scalability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain databases by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Warehousing technologies.
  • At least two years of experience working with MS SQL and writing intermediate/advanced queries using T-SQL.
  • Experience with large structured and unstructured datasets and complex data mappings.
  • Technical knowledge, problem-solving, report development, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience gathering business requirements and designing technical architecture.
  • Strong data visualization skills and experience with tools like Tableau.
  • Detail-oriented with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Light accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with Cisco telephony system, Kronos, and Verint.
