About the position

The University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center is seeking a Database Analyst Programmer Intermediate to join the M-CHORD group, which supports research in pediatric cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery. This role involves the implementation and maintenance of complex clinical research databases, requiring collaboration and communication with faculty and trainee investigators to enhance project efficiency and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain complex clinical research databases for the Congenital Heart Center.
  • Provide input and guidance to faculty and trainee investigators during the project design phase.
  • Oversee data entry, cleaning/editing, and creation of analysis files under supervision of senior research staff.
  • Track and report the status of all clinical research projects to the analytic team.
  • Work with outside collaborators to establish access to databases for data entry and perform multi-site data cleaning.
  • Assist departmental data team with administrative and faculty data requests.
  • Provide input on manuscripts, project reports, and grant applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability in database design and development, including normalization and automated data quality assurance.
  • Experience in SAS data step techniques and macro language.
  • Experience using SAS for health-related analyses.
  • Excellent project documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience building databases in REDCap is preferred.
  • Experience in analysis of administrative and/or clinical health data preferred.
