About the position

CGI Federal is seeking a talented and motivated Associate Level Database Analyst/Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database analysis and programming, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining complex database systems. This role involves working closely with clients and team members to ensure the efficient and effective management of data. Under general supervision, the candidate will assist in the development and maintenance of Cyber and Information Assurance (IA) database systems while offering database development resources to the development team. This position is located in Ft. Belvoir, VA.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain database systems to support business applications and operations.
• Create and optimize database objects, including tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Assist with reviews and provide technical solutions to projects in different stages of the development life cycle.
• Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support business decision-making.
• Develop and generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present data findings to stakeholders.
• Perform database administration tasks, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security management.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Utilize job scheduling and monitoring tools to manage database operations.
• Work closely with clients, business analysts, and team members to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively use database systems and tools.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
• Follow industry best practices and CGI standards for database development and administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field less than 5 years experience, or AA or 2yr Tech School with 2+ years of experience.
• Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship and a secret security clearance are required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in database analysis and programming.
• Experience with database management systems, such as Oracle or MS SQL Server.
• Proficiency in SQL and database programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of database design principles and best practices.
• Experience with data warehousing, report generation, and job scheduling and monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux, including basic shell commands.
• Knowledge of XML, HTML, and open source development.
• Technical documenting skills using tools such as Windows Office, Visio, and CVS.
• Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server certification is required.
• Professionally certified as Technical Level I as defined by DODI 8570 is a requirement.
