About the position

The Database Analyst role is a contract to permanent employment opportunity focused on the government sector, based in Galveston, Texas. This position serves as a liaison between various business units, supporting the applications team, and interacting with vendors. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing automated processes, participating in vendor selection, and monitoring system performance to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact between various business units to analyze and validate changes to business processes, policies, and systems.
  • Provide essential support to the applications team in delivering robust solutions across the enterprise.
  • Establish and maintain detail-oriented relationships with software, hardware, and service vendors.
  • Design and implement automated process workflow routines aimed at optimizing business processes using deployed applications.
  • Participate actively in the selection and implementation of third-party software, vendors, and service providers.
  • Monitor the application environment and implement necessary adjustments to system performance.
  • Offer technical and end-user support for multiple software systems and provide guidance on the use of various software programs.
  • Troubleshoot applications and software, working with vendors, end users, and IT staff to resolve operating issues.
  • Develop and deliver software application training programs and related courseware; organize and conduct training sessions.
  • Respond promptly to IT Help Desk requests, emails, and service tickets; track and document problems until resolution.
  • Research and implement solutions for existing problems; gather information on new technologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Analyst or in a related role within the government sector.
  • Proficient understanding of CRM systems and their application in a business environment.
  • Familiarity with Database Objects and Database Systems for efficient data management.
  • Experience with DB2 Database and Microsoft suite of products is essential.
  • Proficiency in AB Testing methodologies to optimize system performance.
  • Knowledge of Backup Technologies to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Proficiency in Business Intelligence (BI) tools for effective data interpretation and decision making.
  • Ability to create dashboards to visualize and interpret data effectively.
  • Strong skills in Data Analysis to extract insights and trends from raw data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective team coordination and presentation of findings.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment.
