About the position

The Database Analyst at the University of Utah is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's databases. This role involves identifying data sources, constructing data decomposition diagrams, and documenting processes. The analyst will write codes for database access, modifications, and constructions, including stored procedures, to support the mission of the Huntsman Cancer Institute in cancer prevention and care.

Responsibilities

  • Review, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain company databases.
  • Identify data sources and construct data decomposition diagrams.
  • Provide data flow diagrams and document processes.
  • Write codes for database access, modifications, and constructions, including stored procedures.
  • Communicate with data providers to coordinate data delivery and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Proven knowledge of SQL statement syntax, functions, and procedures.
  • Experience in a relational database environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience loading large datasets (close to 1 billion records) into database architecture.
  • Familiarity with SQL utilities used to import data files.
  • Experience using SQL stored procedures to profile, transform, and load records into a database.
