About the position

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Database Analyst to support program evaluation research for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. This role involves writing complex SQL queries for data extraction, designing and maintaining data collection systems, and utilizing business intelligence tools for data visualization. The position is currently remote but may require occasional in-person meetings in Frankfort, KY.

Responsibilities

• Write complex SQL queries for data extraction from health data claims, specifically Kentucky Medicaid data.
• Design, test, implement, and maintain data collection and reporting systems to support research activities.
• Visualize data using business intelligence tools like Tableau.
• Provide support to clients with varying levels of technical expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 4 years of related experience in database analysis or a similar role.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Development and management skills in BI/BA tools, Informatica, Tableau, T-SQL, and PL/SQL.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of Python, R, and SAS.
• Ability to conduct simple statistical data analysis.
• Familiarity with database cloud technologies such as Azure Synapse.
• Preferred experience in working with various data types including healthcare data.
