About the position

The Database and BI Developer position at Sierra Pacific Industries involves designing, developing, and maintaining databases and business intelligence solutions. The role requires strong expertise in Power BI and DAX, as well as collaboration with cross-functional teams to create interactive reports and dashboards. The successful candidate will contribute to the organization's data analysis and reporting strategies, ensuring effective data management and support for business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain databases, data warehouses, and models on Azure SQL.
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and data models using Power BI and DAX.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement BI solutions.
  • Perform and document data analysis, validation, and mapping/design.
  • Develop and execute a reporting and Business Intelligence plan utilizing the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data and business-focused reporting and analytics.
  • Provide technical support, mentorship, and cross-training to peers and team members.

Requirements

  • Microsoft Certification is required.
  • 4 years of relevant experience as a SQL Server Developer/BI Developer.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field with strong relational database education.
  • Experience with Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI and Microsoft Azure SQL Server.
  • Working knowledge of the IBM Db2 database is preferable.
  • Experience in designing and developing reports and dashboards.
  • Proficient in database modeling and data warehouse design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven problem-solving and time-management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional BI tools or platforms.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality best practices.
