Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is seeking a Database Applications Administrator (DBAA) to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Data and Digital Services. The DBAA will be responsible for the installation, management, support, and maintenance of the firm's SQL Server database environment. This role is critical in ensuring that sensitive business data is maintained and available according to the firm's requirements and best practices. The DBAA will also provide SQL and data analytics support to application support staff and other personnel within the firm. The DBAA will play a key role in the installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server and Reporting Services on server hardware, adhering to documented standards. Responsibilities include the creation, configuration, and restoration of user databases, performing data imports and exports, and creating scripts or stored procedures to automate repetitive or complex tasks. The DBAA will manage and monitor database backup jobs, routinely test backup and restoration processes to meet Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity objectives, and maintain optimal database and log file sizes. In addition to these technical responsibilities, the DBAA will recommend and implement security measures to protect confidential data stored in databases and SQL-based applications. The role also involves creating reports using MS Reporting Services, developing SQL Server objects such as Stored Procedures, Views, and Linked Servers, and identifying and escalating technical issues while taking corrective actions for long-term resolutions. Staying current on technology trends and making recommendations for upgrades or improvements to existing technology is also a vital part of this position. The DBAA will collaborate with internal development staff on the design and creation of new databases and provide support to firm personnel or vendors requiring database access. Maintaining positive contact with firm personnel and clients while observing confidentiality in all matters is essential.
