Dinsmore & Shohl LLP is seeking a Database Applications Administrator (DBAA) to join our team in Cincinnati, OH. This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Data and Digital Services. The DBAA will be responsible for the installation, management, support, and maintenance of the firm's SQL Server database environment. This role is critical in ensuring that sensitive business data is maintained and readily available in accordance with firm requirements and best practices. The DBAA will also provide SQL and data analytics support to application support staff and other personnel within the firm. The successful candidate will be tasked with the installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server and Reporting Services on server hardware, adhering to documented standards. Responsibilities will include the creation, configuration, and restoration of user databases, performing data imports and exports, and developing scripts or stored procedures to automate complex tasks. The DBAA will manage and monitor database backup jobs, routinely testing backup and restoration processes to meet the firm's Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity objectives. In addition to these responsibilities, the DBAA will maintain optimal database and log file sizes, recommend and implement security measures to protect confidential data, and create reports using MS Reporting Services. The role also involves the creation of SQL Server objects such as Stored Procedures, Views, and Linked Servers, as well as identifying and escalating technical issues to ensure long-term resolutions. Staying current on technology trends and making recommendations for upgrades or improvements to existing technology is also a key aspect of this position. The DBAA will collaborate with internal development staff on the design and creation of new databases and provide support to firm personnel or vendors requiring database access. Maintaining positive relationships with firm personnel and clients while observing confidentiality in all matters is essential.
