About the position

Lynker Corporation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Database Architect and Administrator to join our team and support a long-term contract with NOAA. This role is critical in building and maintaining data systems that are essential for the nation's fisheries, focusing on both conservation and commercial fishing operations. The Database Architect and Administrator will work closely with NOAA's Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) to ensure the integrity and efficiency of data management processes. In this position, the successful candidate will conduct a deep analysis of existing legacy data structures and design and implement logical and physical data models. They will be responsible for creating, communicating, and adhering to standard modeling conventions while following a scientific approach to efficient SQL query tuning. Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL application design, review, and coding is essential, as the role involves identifying, investigating, and resolving issues related to PL/SQL code. The Database Architect and Administrator will design and build relational databases for data storage or processing, develop strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery, and maintain the database by cleaning and removing old data. Evaluating new data sources for adherence to the organization's quality standards and ease of integration is also a key responsibility. The role requires providing consultation on complex projects and is considered a top-level contributor or specialist, often directing the technical work of others. Typically, this position reports to a manager or head of a unit or department.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Oracle Database design and maintenance experience
  • SQL Query Tuning experience
  • Experience with PL/SQL
  • Data Modelling experience
  • BS/BA degree (or equivalent)
  • 8+ years experience in Database Architecture and Design
