About the position

As a Principal Data Modeler on the Data team at Fidelity, you will lead and collaborate with various teams to build a data modeling platform for Fidelity Digital Asset. This role involves working closely with product teams, data engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into comprehensive data models. You will be responsible for designing and implementing data models for analytical, operational, and transactional platforms, particularly in support of Crypto Trading.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data modeling efforts for Fidelity Digital Asset.
  • Collaborate with product teams, data engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders.
  • Translate data requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Design and implement data models for analytical, operational, and transactional platforms.
  • Enhance existing data models as business needs evolve.
  • Define data modeling standards and guidelines for teams.
  • Assess the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data models.
  • Maintain relevant documentation for data models.
  • Work on multiple projects/products simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer/data science or related technical experience.
  • Strong SQL knowledge and experience with databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Teradata.
  • Hands-on experience in modeling, design, configuration, installation, and performance tuning.
  • Good knowledge of metadata management and data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, ER Studio).
  • Demonstrated experience in data modeling, ER diagrams, and enterprise software design for OLTP and analytical systems.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and methodologies, including semantic data modeling concepts.
  • Experience in data modeling activities supporting history handling, time series data warehousing, and data transformations.
  • Ability to work with Data Governance teams to capture business and technical metadata.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Python is a plus.
  • Experience with data cataloging and data lineage tools like Alation and Collibra.
