About the position

As a Database Architect at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will play a crucial role in transforming our clients' data management capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver insights that help clients turn data into actionable strategies, thereby advancing their missions. This position is pivotal as our clients are undergoing significant overhauls of their legacy IT environments, and you will be instrumental in planning and executing these modernization efforts. Your expertise will guide the establishment of a Data Management Center of Excellence, ensuring that data governance and best practices are integrated into the organizational culture. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in database architecture and data governance to develop and maintain enterprise-wide data management standards. You will document and present As-Is business and data models to inform To-Be architectures, ensuring that all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the data landscape. Your ability to map data stewards to business functions and key data elements will be essential in fostering partnerships between stakeholders and technical staff, ultimately improving data ownership and information sharing across the organization. You will also lead end-to-end data life cycle flow analysis, from transaction to corporate data warehouse, ensuring that data is managed effectively throughout its life cycle. Your track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments will be critical as you navigate the complexities of data management and architecture. Responsibilities

  • Deliver insights to help clients turn data into action.
  • Guide and build the client's Data Management Center of Excellence.
  • Play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of modernization efforts.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, data analysis, or related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience with data or enterprise architecture.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience designing and building big data applications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated history of developing and maintaining enterprise-wide data management standards.
  • Experience in evolving an organization's understanding of data governance and best practices.
