About the position

We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates leadership and expertise in database design and data analysis services for agency systems that are implemented and maintained in our large, complex, multi-platform environment. This position must independently analyze business data requirements, and be able to design, model and manipulate relational database systems, data warehouses, and multidimensional databases. The role requires a depth and breadth of database knowledge that will help with the formal design of relational databases and provides insight into strategic data manipulation. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in independently designing and building relational databases. This contract IT position will be the lead on several critical activities, including coordinating and providing advanced technical expertise and services for the design, setup, and implementation of the WisDOT data catalog. The candidate will champion the adoption and use of the data catalog across WisDOT, review, develop, and implement policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines related to the WisDOT data catalog. Additionally, the candidate will advise WisDOT staff and management on data governance and data quality issues, emerging trends, and industry best practices. The role also involves providing expert leadership, strategic direction, and consulting related to data quality, data cleanup, and data documentation, as well as developing plans for data stewardship initiatives to support WisDOT business and information technology needs.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze business data requirements.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in database design and data analysis services.
  • Expertise in relational databases and data manipulation.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently.
