About the position

The Database Administrator role involves maintaining and optimizing database systems by determining structural requirements, developing solutions, and ensuring performance. The position requires collaboration with clients to analyze their operations and applications, and to design and install database systems that meet their needs. The role also includes providing ongoing support and training to users, as well as staying updated on industry developments.

Responsibilities

  • Determine database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming.
  • Review objectives with clients and evaluate current systems.
  • Develop database solutions by designing proposed systems and defining database physical structure and functional capabilities.
  • Establish security, back-up, and recovery specifications for database systems.
  • Install database systems by developing flowcharts and applying optimum access techniques.
  • Coordinate installation actions and document actions taken during the installation process.
  • Maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems.
  • Calculate optimum values for parameters and evaluate, integrate, and install new releases.
  • Complete maintenance tasks and answer user questions regarding the database.
  • Prepare users by conducting training sessions on database usage.
  • Provide database support by coding utilities and responding to user inquiries.

Requirements

  • Experience in database design and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of database security and management.
  • Ability to conduct requirements analysis and teamwork.
  • Technical zeal and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in presenting technical information effectively.
  • Experience in training users on database systems.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems.
