About the position

The Database Architect will play a crucial role in enhancing the backend of the reporting stack and data model for pharmacy operations. This position involves developing and maintaining the data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT strategy, while also focusing on data integration, governance, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development and innovation of the database environment.
  • Curate database environments to ensure new development is vetted through the DevOps process.
  • Evaluate incoming requests for measurable impact on existing systems.
  • Collaborate with BI and IT leadership to shape the future of DevOps.
  • Diagnose and resolve environment issues with the IT Engineering team.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all objects and optimizations.
  • Assist Development staff in managing their work via SQL Source Control.
  • Develop and maintain the data architecture strategy for pharmacy operations.
  • Design and implement robust data integration solutions for seamless data flow between systems.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical data models for pharmacy data requirements.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and HITECH.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance for high availability and scalability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into data solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance data architecture.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture and integration processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, or a related role, focusing on healthcare or pharmacy data systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, NCPDP) and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Proven experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MongoDB) and data integration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica).
  • Proficiency in data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex data issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Certifications in data management or architecture (e.g., CDMP, TOGAF) are desirable.
