About the position

The Database Architect will lead the strategy and architecture for data management within a growing Fintech company in Boston. This role focuses on balancing the long and short-term needs of the business by defining and maintaining a comprehensive data information architecture and roadmap. The position requires expertise in database performance tuning, architectural improvements, and the design and deployment of database architectures to meet internal customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy, architecture, and process improvements for data architecture and data management.
• Define and maintain a data information architecture and roadmap.
• Provide architectural advice and recommendations specific to internal customer requirements.
• Design, document, construct, and deploy database architectures.
• Evaluate data management solutions and create improvement plans.
• Evaluate emerging technologies against business and strategic needs.
• Integrate technical functionality such as scalability, security, performance, data recovery, data backup, data retention, data accuracy, and reliability.

Requirements

• At least one complete cycle of building a platform product from inception to large scale technical implementations.
• Expertise in design and implementation of an enterprise data model, metadata solution, data security solution, and data management solutions.
• Expertise in Data Warehousing, Data Management, Big Data, and Analytics technologies such as Oracle, Teradata, RedShift, or Hadoop.
• Solid skills in multiple areas of technology such as system design and database design.
• Solid skills in Internet technologies such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
• Advanced expertise in Analytics and working understanding of technologies such as R, SAS, Tableau, and Microstrategy.
• Expertise in high volume, transactional environments with third party business system integrations.
• Strong ETL background using technologies such as DTS, SSIS, command line, and other technologies.
• 10+ years of technical, enterprise, or data architecture experience.
• Strong database design and development experience working in collaboration with full-stack developers and analytics teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Data Management Certifications such as CDP, CDMP.
• Experience in NoSQL technologies.
