About the position

The Database Architect at Southern Veterinary Partners (SVP) is responsible for enhancing and optimizing the backend of the company's reporting stack and data model. This role involves implementing and maintaining the database environment in collaboration with IT Engineers, focusing on innovation and improvement of existing processes while ensuring high standards of performance and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development and innovation of the database environment
• Curate database environments to ensure new development is fully vetted through the DevOps process
• Evaluate incoming requests for measurable impact on existing systems
• Collaborate with BI and IT leadership to shape the future of DevOps at SVP
• Diagnose and resolve environment issues with the IT Engineering team
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of all objects and optimizations
• Assist Development staff in managing their work via SQL Source Control

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building SQL optimizations for faster and scalable processes
• 5+ years of experience in a DevOps SQL environment
• 5+ years of experience configuring database environments and process optimizations
• Self-starting and results-oriented team player with a passion for collaboration
• 5+ years of experience with SQL Server Data Tool suite optimizations and infrastructure
• 5+ years of experience administrating SQL Server IAM
• 5+ years of experience with Visual Studio Database Projects
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or related field

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with memory utilization optimizations
• Experience optimizing SQL Server / Python Interactivity
• Experience working in Azure DevOps
• Experience in a highly parameterized ETL environment
