About the position

The Database Controller for Accounts Receivable at Publix Super Markets is responsible for compiling data and developing databases to meet operational needs, as well as maintaining Microsoft Access database applications. This role includes the administration of all systems and databases for Retail Accounting and providing technical support for operational databases.

Responsibilities

  • Compile data and develop databases to meet operational needs.
  • Maintain Microsoft Access database applications.
  • Administer all systems and databases for Retail Accounting.
  • Provide software-related technical support and immediate problem resolution for operational databases.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in an Information Technology related field or equivalent analytical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with integrated systems.
  • 4 years of experience performing advanced functions within MS Office applications.
  • 4 years of experience with database development.
  • Advanced computer and electronics knowledge including experience with hardware, software, and computer systems and processes.
  • In-depth advanced knowledge of MS Access database design techniques, tools, and principles including knowledge of SQL/pass-through queries, Visual Basic programming, and development of complex formulas and expressions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity in problem solving.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to keep up to date with changing technologies.
  • Strong mathematic and critical analytical thinking ability using logic and reasoning.
  • Ability to have self-discipline and work independently.
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and work more than 40 hours per week as needed for projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology related field or its equivalent analytical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with integrated systems.
  • 6 years of experience performing advanced functions within MS Office applications.
  • 6 years of experience with database development.
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST).
  • High level knowledge of I/S processes interacting with the department.
  • High level knowledge of Corporate Accounting department functions and processes.
  • General knowledge of regulations including HIPAA, PCI, PII requirements as they relate to specific business processes.
  • General knowledge of SOX requirements as they relate to specific business processes within Retail Accounting department.
