About the position

The Database Conversion Developer role focuses on the successful migration of large datasets from Oracle databases to PostgreSQL. This position requires hands-on experience with data conversion, building data models, and creating data pipelines, along with proficiency in cloud technologies, particularly Azure, and familiarity with AWS.

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility is the successful conversion of large datasets from an Oracle database system to a comparable PostgreSQL RDBMS.
• Comfortable using various PostgreSQL tools and extensions such as foreign data wrappers and the ora2pg extension.
• Assess the existing Oracle databases, gauge the complexity, and estimate the efforts required for migration.
• Determine the best migration target based on the nature of the application, type of data, and business logic in the database, evaluating if PostgreSQL, MySQL, or any other open-source database is more suitable.
• Prepare data migration strategies and designs for each project, including plans to avoid downtime when required.
• Perform migration of PL/SQL code that includes Packages, Procedures, and Functions from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
