About the position

Select Sires, Inc. is seeking a Database Developer/Administrator to join their Data Team. This full-time, hybrid position focuses on ensuring the availability, stability, recoverability, maintainability, and performance of database systems that support both transactional and analytical data systems. The role involves working with a mix of on-premises SQL Servers, Azure databases, and Databricks, contributing to the company's transition into a data-informed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability, stability, recoverability, maintainability, and performance of database and servers to support transactional and analytical data systems.
  • Proficiency in classic on-premises SQL Server, including T-SQL programming.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database and its associated services.
  • Familiarity with Databricks and its application in data engineering and analytics.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles and best practices.
  • Implement automation for data pipelines, SQL DACPACs, PowerShell, and Infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Ensure data security, user permissions, and compliance with data regulations.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Manage principles of Transaction data systems.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in administering, managing, and tuning SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with on-premise SQL Server Instances, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Managed Instance.
  • Experience with data replication including SQL Server Merge Replication Publisher and subscriber configuration.
  • Expertise in SQL and automation tools such as SQL Server DACPACs, Data Pipelines, PowerShell, and Infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Experience with HA/DR SQL Enterprise is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL Monitoring technology (i.e. Red-Gate SQLMonitor).
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
  • Understanding of database indexes and index maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL Monitoring technology is a plus (i.e. Red-Gate SQLMonitor).
  • Experience with HA/DR SQL Enterprise is a plus.
