About the position

The Database Developer will work in a small team environment, focusing on the development, deployment, and operation of an enterprise-wide data warehouse, Business Intelligence reporting, and data integration projects. The role involves understanding data integration and reporting requirements, providing ongoing integration development for enterprise database applications, and participating in all phases of data migration.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop database and data marts, stored procedures, and other SQL Server Database objects to support cloud-based and on-premise web applications, data warehouse, BI reporting, and ETL.
  • Participate in all phases of data migration, including design, development, and testing.
  • Perform general database activities such as debugging scripts/procedures, participating in code reviews, and database tuning.
  • Review and analyze business requirements, consulting with the Data Warehouse Manager, Project Manager, and Business Analyst to understand database development needs.
  • Review and analyze existing jobs, designing extraction processes for efficiency and conformance with warehouse naming conventions.
  • Use data mining and analytical techniques to develop and maintain customer segmentation and predictive models.
  • Practice standard development processes leveraging Waterfall and agile methodologies (Wagile).
  • Provide training and assistance to users for ad-hoc analysis and requests.
  • Maintain exemplary company standards and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Systems or related field (Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience).
  • At least three years of database ETL development experience, preferably with MS SQL Server, including T-SQL and stored procedures.
  • Data modeling experience is a plus.
  • Experience with data integration/ETL work with 3rd party vendors is a plus.
  • Experience in developing reports and dashboards is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data profiling and data quality concepts and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated and self-driven.
  • Ability to work on a team with a good attitude and limited supervision.
