About the position

The Database Developer at the University of Oklahoma is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of databases. Responsibilities

  • Gathers all information regarding the intended functions of each database.
  • Receives requests pertaining to the layout, appearance, and special features of each database.
  • Designs and creates appropriate frameworks for databases.
  • Configures databases to withstand cyber attacks and prevent data loss.
  • Reviews developments to detect and amend coding and typographical errors and bugs.
  • Formulates data dictionaries that align with task specifications.
  • Creates technical documents outlining the purpose, capacity, and guidelines for each database.
  • Provides practical guidance on the use and migration of each database.
  • Services and updates databases as required.
  • Performs various duties as needed to fulfill the function of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 36 months experience working as a Database Developer or with databases.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Database Developer.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, C++, or Java, with a preference for more than one programming language.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to craft detailed technical manuals.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.
