About the position

Akkodis is seeking a Database Developer for a contract position, requiring significant experience with Kafka and proficiency in SQL and RDBMS systems. The role involves maintaining complex applications, overseeing production environments, and designing database solutions to meet business goals. The position is hybrid, allowing work from Newark, NJ, Plano, TX, or Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support complex applications, performing defect fixes and resolving issues to ensure smooth operation.
• Oversee production environments and configurations, ensuring application stability.
• Design, develop, and implement database solutions to meet business goals, including writing code, unit testing, and ensuring compliance.
• Serve as a technical lead for the team, providing guidance to other engineers in application support tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, estimate work, and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
• Develop Kafka-based solutions, including writing producer/consumer code, managing Kafka clusters, and configuring multi-region setups.
• Utilize SQL and RDBMS knowledge to create stored procedures, optimize database performance, and manage database components.
• Document processes, provide deployment support, and maintain communication for all critical production changes and implementations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years in database development or related roles.
• Proficiency in Kafka, including experience with Kafka clusters, producer/consumer code, and Kafka connectors.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with RDBMS such as DB2, Oracle, or MemSQL.
