About the position

As a POET Biofuels Database Developer, you will work in a database DevOps capacity, performing tasks applicable to both a database developer and a database administrator. This role is crucial as you will be deeply involved in many aspects of our business, helping to manage and maintain some of our most critical systems. Your responsibilities will include monitoring, optimizing, and maintaining database systems and performance, modifying databases according to requests, and performing tests to ensure their functionality. You will also diagnose and troubleshoot database errors, collaborating with developers to improve applications and establish best practices. In addition to these tasks, you will develop technical and training materials, manage database access, and provide data management support to users. Your role will also involve researching and suggesting new database technologies, services, and protocols, as well as creating and managing database reports, visualizations, and dashboards. Automation of repetitive database tasks will be a key focus, and you will address issues escalated from our internal or external customers or our support team. This position is on-site in Wichita, KS, and requires a proactive approach to database management and development.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, optimize, and maintain database systems and performance

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with database development and administration
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study
  • 1+ year of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SSMS, SSRS, and SSIS
  • Microsoft PowerBI Report Server experience
  • Experience with Windows Server environments and Active Directory managed permissions
  • Familiarity with source code management concepts
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to embrace change
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
