About the position

The Database Developer role is a long-term contract position focused on database development and management. The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, and maintain data warehouses and applications, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of data platforms. The position requires extensive experience in SQL and PL/SQL, as well as hands-on involvement in ETL processes and Agile software development lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data warehouses and applications.
  • Perform SQL performance tuning, debugging, and analysis of SQL code.
  • Handle ETL processes using Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, and scripting languages such as shell scripts, Perl, Python, or Java.
  • Manage bulk loads and ETL jobs in production environments.
  • Map relational entities to business requirements and assist in the development of data services.
  • Create and manage data design deliverables including data models, diagrams, data flows, and data dictionary documentation.
  • Make architectural decisions to enable scalability of data platforms.
  • Utilize data modeling tools like Power Designer or Erwin.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Database Development (SQL/Oracle/PL/SQL).
  • Experience in SQL performance tuning, debugging, and analyzing SQL code.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL processes using Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, and scripting languages.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouses and applications.
  • Good experience in handling bulk loads and ETL jobs in production.
  • Ability to map relational entities to business requirements.
  • Experience with Agile software development lifecycles such as Scrum, Lean Agile, and Kanban.
  • Familiarity with data modeling tools like Power Designer or Erwin.
