About the position

Payactiv is seeking an experienced Database Developer to join our dynamic Engineering team. This role is crucial for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining both new and existing databases to ensure efficient and effective data retrieval, contributing to system consistency and supporting financial domain projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain new and existing databases to ensure efficient data retrieval and management.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, administrators, and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements.
  • Ensure system consistency and reliability by adhering to best practices and coding standards.
  • Design and implement database solutions, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views using T-SQL.
  • Produce high-quality code and resolve complex design and architecture issues.
  • Perform database performance tuning, diagnose and troubleshoot errors, and recommend emerging database technologies.
  • Create and manage comprehensive database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
  • Automate recurring database tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain and enforce database standards, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Utilize PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills for database automation and management.
  • Implement SSIS and SSRS for data integration and reporting.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking in resolving technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in database development, information technology, database architecture, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with database technologies, including MS SQL and MySQL.
  • Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure) highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in working with data lakes such as Snowflake is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality code and follow best practices.
  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with database automation tools and techniques.
