About the position

CIBA Insurance Services is seeking a highly skilled Database Developer to maintain and enhance its transactional and warehouse database systems. The role involves working closely with software development teams, data analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data integrity, security, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database management, data modeling, optimization, and governance, contributing to the company's commitment to providing innovative insurance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain database structures and schemas.
• Create and manage database objects such as tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Implement and manage data models and ensure alignment with business requirements.
• Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various sources.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across databases.
• Perform data migration tasks and database conversions.
• Monitor and analyze database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.
• Conduct regular database maintenance and backups, when needed.
• Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.
• Develop and enforce database access controls and user permissions.
• Collaborate with application developers, data analysts, and other team members to support data-driven solutions.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot database-related issues.
• Document database designs, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven and progressive experience as a Database Developer of 5 years or more.
• Experience with relational databases, specifically MS SQL and Azure SQL.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Proficiency in SQL and database query languages, T-SQL.
• Experience with database design and normalization techniques.
• Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration methods.
• Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) and tools.
• Understanding database security best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in insurance property and casualty domain.
