About the position

The Database and Development Specialist is responsible for coordinating activities related to the customer relations management (CRM) systems and supporting fundraising research and data entry. This role involves managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and reporting on the CRM and fundraising databases, ensuring data integrity and security while optimizing processes for efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building the structure and design of the database and electronic records system.
  • Work closely with the VP of Community Engagement and Vice President of Science Learning to develop and implement strategies for CRM management.
  • Coordinate with the Grant Writer and Research Coordinator on prospect research for funding support.
  • Translate data insights into actionable stories and solutions for organizational challenges.
  • Build prototypes for presentations and illustrations for peer groups and senior leaders.
  • Communicate data mining needs to the CRM developer for continuous improvement.
  • Support peers and stakeholders as a CRM subject matter expert through troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Manage data exporting and importing across organizational divisions.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of database procedures and guidelines.
  • Optimize the database for operational and performance efficiency.
  • Provide comprehensive data analysis related to sales, admissions, membership, and fundraising.
  • Implement data security measures to maintain data integrity.
  • Participate in training new employees on the CRM system.
  • Assist in the implementation and analysis of organizational research.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or extensive database management experience.
  • Ability to develop reports, dashboards, and queries using database reporting tools.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Altru preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Trustworthy and high integrity, with respect for confidential information.
  • Proficient with computer software, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM databases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fundraising or non-profit sector.
  • Familiarity with data security measures and best practices.
