About the position

The Database Engineer/Administrator at ManTech plays a crucial role in overseeing the design, development, support, and maintenance of the organization's database systems. This position is integral to ensuring the performance and integrity of database operations, which includes managing both hardware and software components, as well as network elements. The Database Engineer/Administrator is responsible for optimizing database objects to enhance performance, conducting capacity planning, and usage forecasting to ensure that the database systems can handle current and future demands. In addition to technical responsibilities, this role involves providing comprehensive technical reviews and recommendations on the technical direction of database management. The Database Engineer/Administrator will also be tasked with extracting and loading data, establishing cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information, and managing hardware and software updates. Monitoring performance and overseeing the configuration of servers and databases are also key responsibilities, along with maintaining data integrity and handling sensitive data ethically. Furthermore, this position includes a supervisory component, where the Database Engineer/Administrator will mentor and guide subordinate project staff and collaborate with other Database Engineer/Administrators. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and ensures that the team remains at the forefront of database technology and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, support, and maintenance of the organization's database systems.
  • Manage hardware, software, and network components related to database systems.
  • Optimize database objects for enhanced performance.
  • Conduct capacity planning and usage forecasting for database systems.
  • Provide comprehensive technical reviews and recommendations on technical direction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 4 years of additional experience, or an Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of position-specific relevant experience.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level II Certification within 6 months of commencing work on the Task Order.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Development or related discipline.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level III Certification.
  • Relevant industry standard certifications such as Oracle, Microsoft or AWS.
