About the position

The Database Engineer at Reinventing Geospatial (RGi) is responsible for optimizing database performance, managing configurations, and implementing performance testing practices. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of database systems, supporting both classified and unclassified environments. The engineer will collaborate with software and system engineers to enhance database integration and performance, contributing to mission-critical projects in geospatial intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving inefficiencies.
  • Ensure database configurations are properly managed through configuration management (CM) practices.
  • Implement and manage performance testing tools, such as JMeter or alternatives, to prevent performance regressions.
  • Collaborate with software and system engineers to ensure optimal integration and performance of the database systems.
  • Support proactive database performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to pass a CI Polygraph.
  • Ability to work in both classified and unclassified environments on location 5 days a week in Herndon VA.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related discipline (4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree).
  • 5+ years of experience in database engineering, database performance optimization, and configuration management.
  • Strong understanding of database technologies and systems.
  • Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or similar alternatives.
  • Experience with version control systems for managing database configurations.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Postgres, Mongo databases, Liquibase and SQL queries.
  • Experience with Java, SpringBoot, and Hibernate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated testing.
  • Proficient in identifying database inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions.
  • Understanding of regression testing and performance monitoring tools.
